Brady Quinn Named TSN Player of the Week

(UHND.com) — Notre Dame fans aren’t the only ones taking notice to Brady Quinn’s excellent start and his outstanding performance on Saturday. The Sporting News named Quinn their College Player of the Week after his big game in the dismantling of Purdue this past weekend.

Quinn completed 80.5% of his passes for 440 yards — his second 400 yard game of the year and third straight 300+ yard outing. Quinn tossed 3 touchdown passes in the win over Purdue to push his season total to 13 to just 3 interceptions.

The 440 yards against Purdue also push Quinn over 6,000 for his career joining Ron Powlus and Steve Beuerlein as the only Irish signal callers to accomplish this milestone. At 6,038 career passing yards, Brady trailed Beuerlien by 489 for 2nd place and Powlus by 1,564 yards. Quinn is currently on pace for 3,566 yards this season which would be 1,945 more yards — giving the junior an outside shot and owning the career passing yard mark this year.

Quinn’s 13 touchdowns this season give him 39 for his career — 13 shy of tying Ron Powlus’s career record of 52. Again, at his current rate, Quinn would throw for 28 touchdowns this season — 15 more than he currently has.

It is clear that Quinn is a completely different quarterback. Quinn is cool in the pocket and has been finding his second, third, and fourth receivers. He hasn’t been forcing things as he has previous seasons and is flourishing in Charlie Weis’ offense.
