BC, Northwestern Lead for DE Davon Custis

One of the more intriguing prospects left on the board for the Irish this recruiting season is Ohio DE Davon Custis. The talented DE hasn’t visited Notre Dame yet, but has taken trips to Northwestern and Boston College and right now they lead for his services according to ESPN’s Bill Kurelic.

“I just felt like when I visited Boston College I fit in better,” Custis said. “I got to know the players more there. I felt like academically Boston College would be a better fit for me.”

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Custis plans to take official visits to Northwestern, Notre Dame and Stanford before selecting a college. He said his trip to Northwestern will be in late December or early January, and Stanford will be sometime in January.

“Boston College and Northwestern are my top two,” Custis said.

Custis is one of three DE the Irish are still recruiting along with Chris Bonds and Nick Kasa.  Of the three, Custis has the most speed and could be a very intriguing prospect for the Irish if they could impress him on his official.   Notre Dame didn’t land a DE like Custis last year when we secured five defensive linemen and he seems like he has the makings of a good pass rusher in Tenuta/Brown’s defensive scheme.

Edit:  I meant for this to be titled, “BC, Northwestern…”, not “BC, Wisconsin…”.  Sorry for the confusion.
