UHND.com) – Rumors were rampant this weekend that Gary Gray was reopening his recruiting between Notre Dame and South Carolina. Rumors became fact Sunday when several media outlets including WLTX-19 of Columbia, South Carolina confirmed that Gray is indeed considering the Irish again.

Gray is considered to be one of the best cornerbacks in this year’s recruiting class, ranked 14th overall in ESPN’s Top 150 and 26th in Rivals.com’s Top 100. Gray was a big recruit for the Irish before committing to South Carolina and landing him would be a major coup for the Irish.

Gray spent this past weekend on an unofficial visit to Notre Dame with his mother, who had not seen the Notre Dame campus when Gray made his first visit to South Bend. She was with him this time however and the Irish are very much back in the picture.

Despite an impressive haul at corner last year with Darrin Walls and Raeshon McNeil, corner is still a pivotal position this year in recruiting for the Irish and Gray is probably the most talented corner on the board for the Irish at this point.

While it’s still very early and he very likely could still end up at South Carolina, the fact that Gray has reopened his recruiting is huge for Notre Dame.
