Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh Football.  It feels like it’s been a life time since we last got to watch the Irish and two lifetimes since we got to watch the Irish and even longer since we’ve gotten to see Notre Dame throw punches instead of take them. At long last though, the 2013 season is upon.

The off-season has been excruciating this year – more so than any in recent memory, but that off-season is officially OVER.  Notre Dame kicks off against Temple in hours, not days.  The Fighting Irish are back and ready to prove the only thing that was a fluke in 2012 was their performance in Miami.

This year we are adding a twist to Wake Up the Echoes.  Each week we will be adding one video a week only on Facebook page so be sure to head over there and like us if you haven’t already because the video we posted there will be sure to get you HYPED.

With all that said, we bring you the first edition of Wake Up the Echoes for the 2013 season.

There haven’t been many good 2013 pump up videos posted that we’ve found. This one is pretty good though.

The season’s only getting started… we won’t black-out. MAybe.

We don’t get to beat up on Boston College this year… but that doesn’t mean we can’t ship up to Boston.

Remember when we had a goal line stand against USC?

And against Stanford?

Our defense is NASTY. Here’s 33 reasons why.

And we’ll close with Here Come the Irish.

Enjoy kick-off weekend everybody! We have earned it after the off-season we just went through.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IRISH!

Definitely not looking as sharp as I would have expected against Temple.

Special teams are horrible. This team looked great for two series.

Struggling, not exactly what was expected against this opponent. Hopefully the rust will get shaken out. Go Irish.

Defense just isn’t what I thought it would be. Why don’t the Lineman get their hands up! They have been reading their own press press clippings

D looks like their missing leadership on the field (Teo).

Yeah, sure appears that way. They better get this rust out. This will not bode well against better opponents. WR’s and RB’s looking OK however

Kicking game looks real poor, at least today it does.

brindza is not the answer @ punter going forward i don’t think.

we also haven’t created any turnovers. those were big for us last year, if we’r to do anything this year that will have to be repeated

I am a bit more than surprised as this game has progressed how the D has not played anywhere near what I thought they would. Nice to see AH get a little time.

i would have liked to score 40+ today honestly.

but BK tends to not like running up scores, which i respect

200th win for BK. a win is nice. Definitely somethings to address for Michigan next week. Excited about the bevy of RB’s and WR’s. I hope D’s performance was first game rust.

I wish he would have a few more touches. TF looked good too. Exciting frosh RB’s for sure.

Is it me or does Atkinson look to be losing his starting position? I like the adjustment made by Disco to man up in the second half, but over all they looked bad. Offense looked good at times but missed opportunities. I hope Nix gets his head out of his rear end. The defense is missing a leader and it shows. Who will step up. I hope its Shembo.

    Here’s my grades
    Offense B
    Defense C
    Special teams F

Besides field goals the kick off team is horrible. In a bright spot TJ looks good on punt returns!

Jack, I will not be surprised if 2 frosh backs move up in rotation. I know they didn’t play much but they don’t look like frosh. I think GB will be a beast and TF his counterpart. It was good to see CM get some playing time. GB and TF don’t look like frosh’s either. I agree with your observation about D leadership. I do think Dan Spond’s absence has had a bigger impact than realized. Hopefully the D plays better. This was Temple, not Mich, Ariz St, Okla, USC, or Stanf. They have to play at a higher as does the O.

    Go ND

Chi-town I finally am convinced you are right about Cam. I dont believe that GA111 is going to hang on to the starting tailback position. Cam seems to have a better feel for the position. Fortunately depth a the RB position is not an issue.

DEFENSE – DEFINITELY A LETDOWN – IF THERE ARE GOING TO BE WINS AGAINST GOOD TEAMS THE D MUST DOMINATE – NOT THERE AGAINST TEMPLE – RUN MORE SET THE POWER RUN GAME – NUMBERS FOR TOMMY GREAT BUT STILL NOT SURE HOW HE WILL LOOK AGAINST THE BETTER TEAMS – BEING REALISTIC HERE – THE QB NEEDS TO HAVE SOME MOBILITY – I HOPE I AM EATING MY WORDS IS DEC – I AM NOT SEEING A REALLY GREAT YEAR AHEAD – 3-5 LOSSES

I’d say GA 3′s hold on the starting spot is tenuous at best. Carlisle is the most complete and the little guy runs the hardest. Probably going to be tough to keep the man child Bryant off the field for much longer as well.

Good Opener! Beyond the usual emotional knee jerk frankensteinian assessments…ZERO ND TURNOVERS! How quickly we forget the South Florida opener and last year we had a reason to beat Navy by 40 points.

Firstly, #1 Bama only beat their unranked apponent by 3 more points.

Secondly, highly ranked Clemsons’ upset win over highly ranked Georgia 38-35 represents the usual battle when two ‘highly ranked’ teams meet vs sponge bob teams.

Thirdly, with the Owls only winning 4 games last year, looking forward to Michigan was not rocket science.

Lastly, I have full confidence ND will indeed be ready for Michigan!

    GooooooooooIrish!
