We are bringing back an old column that fell by the waste side a little bit last season under a new name in 2011. For the last few years we ran Friday morning posts with videos to get everyone fired up for the weekend under the name Friday Morning Flicks, but we were never really too attached to the name so this year we are bringing the column back under the name “Wake Up the Echoes”.
The 2011 season is almost upon us. In just a little over 30 hours we’ll see just how much Dayne Crist and the Irish offense has improved in year two under Brian Kelly and just how good Bob Diaco’s defense is with all of the infused young talent the Irish staff brought in last year.
Until then, here are some videos that are sure to get you excited and serve as a nice little distraction as everyone gets ready for a nice long weekend of food, family, and a whole lot of college football.
When we last saw the Irish…
After posting the Aerosmith Sports Century video last week for the IBG, there was no way I could pass up posting this Notre Dame 2011 trailer this week.
Another great trailer put together full of highlights from the 2011 season.
… and another trailer with some great classic Notre Dame clips at the beginning including a voice over of one of Rock’s famous speeches.
Remember when Notre Dame Stadium used to actually wake up the echoes? This highlight reels starts off with clips of the famous crowd penalty Notre Dame got in 1988 for the crowd being too loud. If only the crowd were to be in that much of a frenzy when USC rolls into town. This reel also features a lot of the great defensive plays from 2011.
If you have ever read one of these columns, you now I can’t go more than a few weeks without posting this video. If Notre Dame is as good as I think they can be this year, get used to seeing this one a lot again this year.
Here is the official primer pout together by the University…
Just in casse you forgot… Cierre Wood is pretty good.
… and so is Michael Floyd.
Alright, I think it’s time to close strong. Get used to seeing this one a lot this season… the college football world might have to get used to hearing Here Come the Irish in 2011 too.
