Bodemeister: most impressive Kentucky Derby loser ever?

Bodemeister posted the five fastest split times in Kentucky Derby history. He went the first quarter in 22.32 seconds, the first half mile in 45.39 and the first three-quarters of a mile in 1:09.80. In the 137 previous Derbies, all 10 horses prior to Bodemeister who ran the first mile in 45.4 seconds or less virtually collapsed after the exertion, finishing 10th place or worse.

I'm no horse expert, but I'm guessing the best shot at the Triple Crown is already out of the running.
