I'll tell you what is going to happen.
During the debates, Romney will say his stupid stuff, try to be palinesque in his method and Obama, instead of going after Romney and his stupidity, Obama will back off and talk about something meaningful - about a vision for the country. What the majority of the people will hear is - Obama is weak for not going after Romney and shutting him down; these debates will be codified by the media at large confirming what the regular folk felt during the sessions making Obama the lesser in the debates. On substance, Romney will be miles behind Palin's stupidity, yet the regular folk will see a nice package to look at.
I don't hold much favor for the regular folk in the US. McCain/Palin should never have had a vote go their way, and yet they had millions behind them. Look at Bush; a know-nothing fool parleyed his family's wealth into not one term but two.
The Republicans used to have at least one person with a brain running for office, but the country had to impeach him for being a reckless power monger; since then they've have no one. They had a chance with Huntsman but, they didn't like him. He's too smart.
