Deregulation of utilities has been an epic failure.

Something like our Nation's power grid should be publicly owned. It's really no different than our highway system.

Significant grid upgrades are needed, but will never happen in our current set up, b/c it isn't profitable for the utilities to upgrade it. They can simply raise costs instead. If the goal was public good vs. profits, the grid would have been upgraded years ago.
