In the first, the majority was Sotomayor, Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy and Kagan and dissenting was Roberts, Alito, Ginsburg and Breyer

In the other, Alito represented a plurality that included Roberts, Kennedy and Breyer. Thomas concurred in judgment only. Kagan, Scalia, Ginsburg and Sotomayor dissented.

Those lineups don't support the typical partisan assumptions.
