How smart are they?

I don't know why you would hold the women to a higher standard.

It is not that either side is too stupid to understand consequences. It is just that they think about now and not later...they think about rolling 7 or 11, but not 2, 3 or 12...and besides, they know that if they get a bad roll, they are not as bad off as they used to be, because the stigma is less and the government assistance is full. (Effects are felt at the margins immediately. Every policy step to make it easier to have children out of wedlock increases the number of children out of wedlock, somewhere. As a nation, we have decided this is ok. But lets not pretend it isn't a reality.)
