Just because I think Palin is smarter than Biden (and I do) doesn't make her my girl. It is more a commentary on Biden than it is on Palin.

But I will say this about Palin: She was not ready for prime time. Being governor of Alaska, it turns out, is a relatively low profile job. She did not have the training and experience, and therefore the presence, to be able to think on her feet with reporters with cameras who she naively thought were seeking the truth, but who were actually, actively seeking to take her down because she was a greater threat to them than McCain. You might be surprised the things you could not remember if you were thrown in front of a bunch of TV cameras today and asked a bunch of gotcha questions, knowing that the answers you got right wouldn't get any play time. That's not to say you are stupid, but you likely don't have the training and experience. (Obviously I don't know you, so I can't say that with any certainty; perhaps you are actually Jay Carney.)

I'm at the point in my career where I have done a fair amount of high stakes, high profile negotiations for my company. But 10 years ago, even though I had the same level of intelligence as I have now, I would not have been ready to handle those negotiations because I had not yet sat second chair, observing and learning. I would have looked dumber, had I been lead negotiator back then, even though I was not dumber. (Intelligence is not something that changes over time.) The difference then was that I did not have the experience. She was thrown into the VP candidacy with next to no preparation or experience...similar to how Obama was thrown in to the presidency (and you see the results we have gotten).

The amazing thing about Biden is that he has a ton of experience and training, and he still comes off like a bafoon. That guy was dumb then, and is dumb now. He's never getting any better.
