Seriously. I'm sick of that crap. I'm all for being a realist, in that we have some significant challenges ahead of us, specifically untried players in skill positions - that, in combination with a brutal schedule, does not bode to well for us. We have our challenges, for sure.
But, unlike you, I will not sink our ship before it leaves the dock.
Can you imagine if our players had that attitude? What coach in the country, from pee-wee ball to the Pro's, want that Doom & Gloom from players? And I would be sure to bet, that the captains of our squad, will try to inspire a win-at-all cost mentality, from themselves and their teammates. Positivity, belief, trust, commitment and effort have to rule the day - doubt and fear have no place. Those elements are poison to any team.
If Doom & Gloom is unacceptable for Coaches and Players, then why the hell should I spread it? It's one thing to critique, question, analyze and, certainly, to call people out for stupid decisions and/or poor play. Those things, I believe, are necessary for excellence. It's another thing altogether to wave the flag of Doom & Gloom and create a general malaise of hopelessness. If players draw their inspiration and motivation from their positive coaches, motivated fellow-players and their faithful fan-base, then I should step up and be the foundation our players need to succeed, not contribute to the faithless dry-rot that can only lead to failure.
Step up, MAS, and be a Fan...or move to another board and sink the ship of whatever team that happens to be.
GO IRISH!
