After the Omar Hunter and Justin Trattou recruiting stories from the last two seasons, Notre Dame fans are well aware of Urban Meyer’s recruiting tactics. It seems like the recruiting of five star defensive back Patrick Johnson has clued LSU fans into his methods as well.

Johnson, who was set to enroll at LSU this week, has had his ACT score called into question. It seems after scoring a 16 on his ACT the first two times he took it, Johnson got a 22 the third time he took it in October. Apparently someone had that score questioned. And take a guess who Johnson says it was.

From the Times Picayune:

Johnson said Florida, one of his top three choices (along with Florida State) before he settled on LSU, questioned his academic eligibility with the NCAA. ACT officials subsequently reviewed his test results and “flagged” the October score.

“I’m not upset,” Johnson said. “Florida made an issue about the ACT score. They’re cowards. They had to go behind my back. But that’s OK. We play them this year (on Oct. 11 at Florida).”

Wow. I guess Florida’s philosophy is, if you can’t sign a recruit do whatever you can to make sure your rivals doesn’t either. I wonder if Florida would have been as concerned with Johnson’s test score if he had committed to the Gators?

First, Omar Hunter hasnt declared Florida his school yet. Second, there is probably more to this story but as it seems that Florida and Meyer dont like to lose even on the recruiting trail and will go to any lengths to get the player they want. I will also note that I realize that Meyer has notified the NCAA about Johnson not because he hopes to grab him but to get him ruled ineligible for him to attend LSU which is a rival SEC school. Its pretty dirty and low and arent we glad Meyer is not our coach? I know I am. Also I know Meyer is a “Enemy” lol -BoB, but doesnt affect ND at all so I dont really care. We know Meyer is cheap and what goes around comes around. Hunter will probably end up at Georgia. I know we arent the only ones who thinks Urban is cheap and dirty and soon schools will use this against him.

Urban Meyer’s infamous modus operandi is his trademark! After blindsiding ND with his disingenuous intentions on a national stage cleverly made for intentional grandstanding,so what’s new about his unethical recruiting?

More and more I’m happy we didn’t end up with Urban. He sounds like a total prick.

Let’s not worry about what is happening to Urban Meyer or this SEC recruit. Yes we are blessed to have Charlie Weiss as head coach and not Urban Meyer. Everything is coming together with Charlie’s recruiting and he will soon show the college football world with his players the most dominant era of college football since Knute Rockne coached the Irish. Get ready for a coach that will win over 80% of his games and lead us to multiple championships. With Clausen and Crist and the next great Irish defense enrolling this fall good times are ahead! GO IRISH

How great would it be to see Omar stuff Urban on signing day and go to Georgia? It’d bring a smile to my face.

frank,

1. sorry, the correct name of that outstanding qb from taft high school in woodland hills, ca who fell for the urban scam and followed urban and his promises from utah to florida in florida’s 2005 recruiting class is josh portis.

2. josh and his family have a lot to say about urban and none of it is good. however, it is accurate and the public, and especially recruits and their families, will hear about it all, in great detail, along with stories from some of urban’s other victims, before urban ruins any more young lives.

GO IRISH!!!

I dont understand how some of these kids think by signing with Florida et Meyer. I know its warm there and the ladies are HOT but word has gotten out how dirty Meyer is. They must hear it and decide its just better for them I guess. I just hope we end up wiht #1 class still which according ro Rivals were #2.

Well, Well, Well, Flash-in-the-pan-Coach: “Meyer possibly involved with secondary recruiting violation” CBS sports reports!
4 Losses, no elite top ten 2007 finsh, must be stressful?

“Lame-Duck” ESPN is to busy rating Florida at the top of their proprietary recruiting system.

Frankie you should post the Jaconsen story up here.

Maybe if Charlie did more of that we’d actually win a bowl game.

“Lame-Duck” ESPN, now a day late reports their golden boy “Meyer is at the center of the latest controversy” concerning recruiting: http://www.espn.com

Interestingly enough, they are right on top of Derrell Hand’s potiental career ending spinal injury. I am sure glad I don’t pay them a dime for so called expert commentary.

Wow. Lot of loser talk around here. Secondary violations are the bread-n-butter of any successful recruiting class. Deal with it.

JC

Hopefully, another playing field soon to be leveled. USA Today reports: “Lloyd Lake agrees to deposition in Bush case.” “Reggie has not talked to the NCAA.” “He has not been cooperative with USC.”

JC that is not exactly a “good” thing Bush has not been cooperative with USC. Kinda shows he acted independantly. No, I dont think he did without anyones knowledge but still helps out USC and I want them to go down more than Bush the individual.

“Wow” A lot of loser talk around here”? “Deal with it”? Typical CB gibberish. Where do we send the DEPENDS.

You guys are a bunch of whiners. After a season like last years, I would probably think about whining too. Urban Meyer is a better coach and recruiter than Charlie. Get over it! Get used to losing seasons too. You guys suck!

The minor recruiting violations Meyer is accused of are just about as serious as this:

http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=573528

or this:

http://www.ncaa.org/releases/infractions/1999/1999121702in.htm

On the PJ note, I would hope if Charlie suspected cheating by an athlete he would have the integrity to report it to the appropriate authorities. Not to mention, everyone here is slandering Meyer based on an 18 year old kids statements… where are the facts?

Lastly, on Hunter and Trattou, did any violations occur? Try not to take it so personally, 17 and 18 year olds changing their mind is nothing new. Besides, do you think maybe ND’s 3-9 record could have had anything to do with Hunter? Plus, it’s not like Hunter decommitted from ND and then immediately committed to UF, he took a few visits. I have a feeling it had more to do with ND’s program than Meyer’s recruiting tactics.

Don’t worry, what most people here are going through is similar to that of being rejected by your dream girl. 1st you fantasize about having her, then when you realize you don’t meet her standards, you call her a…. well you get what I mean.

Try not to be so pathetic and make us all look like whiners.

Wow!….just…just.. wow!
Seriously, you guys sound like a bunch of panty waist douchenozzles the way you bitch and moan about Big Bad Urban Myer “cheating” and “stealing” your recruits. You talk about stuff that you hear fourth and fith hand with NO clue as to what the real story is. And you prove your ignorance by using a guy like Josh Portis to buttress your arguement. The same Josh Portis who’s helicopter mom is so obnoxious that she would call 10 times a day to tell coaches how her baby should be treated. He was given ample opportunities but just plain sucked. He and his mom took their act to Maryland where he languished on the bench. That is of course until he was suspended from the team after being caught cheating on exams.
If I were you guys I’d be more worried about why Cheesburger Charlie was given a 10 year extention for winning only 3 games in his third year as head coach. I would want to know why, with all the advantages ND has (own network, sweetheart BCS deal, rich tradition) that you can’t beat teams like Navy. I guess it’s easier to point the finger at boogeyman Myer than at your own slumping(no bowl wins in 10 years, no relevance in the past 20 years) program. Geeesh!

Are you serious with the Patrick Johnson thing? Do you honestly think the ACT needs Urban Meyer to report test scores? They automatically flag any test score increases… Use some logic

Referencing Portis…nice job. He was kicked off of the team at Maryland for cheating. Let him and his mom say what he wants about Meyer. AND, ND offered Meyer half the money UF did. Don’t get mad at UF and Meyer cause ND is awful. Hope you make a bowl in 2008. maybe they will even put you in one you can win.

Look at all these UF douchebags sprinting to the rescue of their used car saleman coach. I love it.

And Urban Meyer is still a dirt bag.
