Let’s take a break from the “Will He/Won’t He Return” soap opera unfolding about Charlie Weis and take a look at the latest bowl predictions for Notre Dame.

  • Mark Schlabach has us in the Hawaii Bowl against the Hawaii (ESPN)
  • Bruce Feldman has us in the Poinsettia Bowl against BYU (ESPN)
  • CBS has us in the Texas Bowl against Rice (CBS)
  • NBC has us in the Hawaii Bowl against Hawaii (NBC)
  • Scout has us in the Texas Bowl against Hawaii (Scout)

Someone should tell Bruce Feldman that Notre Dame can’t go to the Poinsettia Bowl.  I know this because after I saw the Poinsettia Bowl as a possible destination on Sunday, Jeff called a Poinsettia Bowl rep and was told that the Irish have no chance of getting into their bowl because they have a secondary agreement with the WAC.

Anyway, right now it looks like the Texas Bowl against the 9-3 Rice Owls is our most likely destination based on these projections and information I’ve heard.

Idealy, the Texas bowl is probably the best shot of notre dame winning a bowl game.

I’ve heard the Hawaii Bowl is our best chance. Wouldn’t be a smart move to put them in the Texas Bowl. The NFL Network televises that and only 37% of the nations households have that channel. That would be a dumb move to put them in that game.
