Class of 2017

Jafar Armstrong Gives Notre Dame an Upgrade

When Notre Dame lost five players from the class of 2017 over the course of the season and into the off-season, a round of late offers went flying out of the Gug.  Late offers usually mean reaches and gambles.  When Jafar Armstrong committed to Notre Dame on Sunday, however, he gave Notre Dame an upgrade over the player whose decommitment opened the door for Armstrong’s late round offer. Jordan Pouncey picked up an offer from Notre Dame following the Irish Invasion, but some recruiting experts and scouts on hand for the event questioned the Pouncey offer over some other players ...

Perfect Fit: Jordan Genmark Heath Commits to Notre Dame

After a month of decommits and dwindling recruiting class rankings, Notre Dame desperately needed some good news on the recruiting front with less than a week until Signing Day.  They got some on Thursday when 4-star safety Jordan Genmark Heath (no hyphen guys) committed to the Irish after visiting South Bend last weekend. Since the season has ended Notre Dame lost commitments from Jordan Pouncey (WR), Elijah Hicks (S), and Paulson Adebo (CB) without picking up any new additions as Brian Kelly scrambled to completely remake his coaching staff.  The result was a slew of late offers over the last ...

Notre Dame Recruiting: Brian Kelly Enters Critical Final Stretch

With one week until thousands of high school players put pen to paper and officially become committed to their schools of choice, Brian Kelly and his football staff are working furiously to round out their staff. In the last couple of weeks, after a number of de-commitments from the 2017 class (after experiencing none last cycle), the Irish coaches added a slew of new offers, over 20, in an attempt to salvage what was once considered a top 10 class.  Will it work? For the record, I’m not a big class ratings guy. Brian Kelly has proven again and again ...

Notre Dame Cooks’d Again: Tre Norwood to Oklahoma

Former Notre Dame assistant coach Kerry Cooks strikes again.  Tre Norwood was considered one of the best bets for Notre Dame among last weekend’s five official visitors who weren’t already committed to Notre Dame.  Monday night, on the heels of his visit to Notre Dame, however, Norwood committed to Oklahoma where he was recruited by Kerry Cooks. Well, that certainly wasn’t the way the Notre Dame coaching staff likely envisioned this week starting.  With just over a week remaining until National Signing Day and there class currently sitting at just 15 members, Notre Dame needs to add at least five members ...

Notre Dame Recruits on their 1/20 Weekend Visits

We’ve already posted about the recruiting visit of 3-star safety Evan Fields earlier today, but as we wait for more news on this weekend’s official visitors, here’s a look at almost all of them on their visits this weekend. We were able to find pictures posted from 7 of the 8 recruits on campus this weekend on Twitter with Tre Norwood being the only holdout.  Ironically, Norwood is considered the most likely to commit to Notre Dame either during or shortly after his visit. LB David Adams(★★★★) & DT Kurt Hinish (★★★) Both Pennsylvania native recruits are firmly committed to Notre Dame ...

Looks Like Evan Fields Enjoyed His Notre Dame Recruiting Visit

Notre Dame is wrapping up one of the most important recruiting weekends in this recruiting cycle this morning.  As we all wait for any official news on commitments – or on the reverse any dreaded eliminations – it at least looks like one visitor had a great time.  Safety recruit Evan Fields was pretty active on Twitter throughout his trip with several posts about his time in South Bend. Had a great Official Visit!! ☘️? #IRISHEL17E pic.twitter.com/HCabmw9WyN — Evan Fields (@Evan4_) January ...

Previewing Notre Dame Recruiting’s YUGE 1/20 Weekend

With National Signing Day less than two weeks away, Notre Dame is charging towards the finish line with a lot of open spots available and a lot of holes to fill.  Decommitments and a loss of momentum during the 4-8 campaign has Notre Dame sitting at just 15 commitments with room to accommodate almost a full class.  The Irish will have as many as six uncommitted (to Notre Dame) prospects on campus along with three current commits and five early enrollees this weekend. How the Irish staff performs this weekend will set the tone for the rest of this recruiting ...

Notre Dame Recruiting: Meet Notre Dame’s Five ’17 Early Enrollees

Last weekend five recruits from the 2017 recruiting class moved into their Notre Dame dorm rooms and began life as college students–offensive linemen Aaron Banks and Robert Hainsey, tight end Brock Wright, running back CJ Holmes, and athlete Isaiah Robertson. Since they took the time and effort to graduate from high school early and attend the university we all love and cheer for, and in doing so will likely get lost in the signing day excitement, they deserve to be highlighted, celebrated, and broken down by me, a guy with zero credentials as a talent evaluator except that I screamed ...

Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Commits “Trust the Process”

Notre Dame’s class of 2017 sprung another leak on Monday with the decommitment of Paulson Adebo.  Next to Donovan Jeter, it was the biggest of the now four decommitments that have occurred since the fall.  The rest of the class of 2017 – and those on board for 2018 – are rallying around each other with a social media surge. One by one, the active tweeters among Notre Dame’s commitments for both 2017 and 2018 began tweeting out a simple message with the same picture.  Here’s one such tweet from the first commitment for the class of 2017 – Dillan ...

Notre Dame Commit Brock Wright Receives High Praise from NFL Legend

Notre Dame tight end commitment Brock Wright has been putting in some WORK at the Under Armour All-American Bowl practices this week.  So much so that NFL legend Deion Sanders has taken notice.  Check out Primetime’s tweet below. I don't know to much about this kids highschool career but with what I've seen at the #UAallAmerica practices he will play on Sunday 1 day. pic.twitter.com/GQxl3UCfJT — Deion Sanders (@DeionSanders) December 30, 2016 With tight end production falling off the map over the last few seasons for Notre Dame, Sanders’s tweet should be music to Notre Dame fans’ ears.  Combine that ...

Notre Dame needed to add another offensive lineman in this class and they landed an elite one to round out this year’s OL haul.  Landing Banks was no easy task for Brian Kelly and Harry Hiestand either.  The Irish lured the consensus 4-star OL from the San Cerrito, California in the ...

Notre Dame’s disappointing weekend on the field didn’t completely ruin what was a huge recruiting weekend for Notre Dame off the field.  Weekend visitor Donovan Jeter, a 4-star DE, committed to Notre Dame on Monday over the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State.
