Harrison Smith

Bio

Harrison Smith committed to Notre Dame in the class of 2007 over his hometown Tennessee Volunteers. Smith did not play as a freshman in ’07, but has been a mainstay in the Irish defense since 2008. After an up and down start to his career, Smith settled in at safety in 2010 and enjoyed a breakout season featuring a game sealing interception against USC and a 3 INT performance against Miami in the Sun Bowl. Smith will return in ’11 for a 5th year and Brian Kelly has already named him, along with Michael Floyd, a captain for the 2011 season.

Blue/Gold Game Player Observations – Defense

Here’s some thoughts from the Blue/Gold game on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive Line Ethan Johnson – Johnson was a force to be reckoned with Saturday. Before Everyone Overreacts… Some Positives from MSU

Alright, before everyone goes all doom and gloom on me, there were plenty of positives to take away from Saturday’s loss to Michigan State.  Like I said on the board, there are no such things as good losses, but there certainly are bad losses; and I just don’t see this as a “bad” loss.  To [...]

Season Preview ’08: Linebackers

Ever since Brandon Hoyte and Corey Mayes graduated after the 2005 season, the linebacker position has been a liability for the Notre Dame defense.  The past two seasons the Irish have used an under sized cast of characters that were patched together more out of necessity than anything else.  As a result, the Irish have [...]

Weis Notes – 8/10

Here are some notes from Charlie Weis’s press conference with the media Sunday. Morrice Richardson played better than Justin Brown in the spring.  Brown is competing for the position and should play in the two deep.  Both are also being pressed by the young guys.  Weis made specific mention of Ethan Johnson and Kapron Lewis-Moore.
