Bio
Manti Te’o shocked the recruiting world when he selected Notre Dame over USC on National Signing Day in 2009. Most felt Notre Dame was out of if for Te’o after the Hawaiian native visited South Bend for Notre Dame’s snow filled meltdown against a bad Syracuse team in November ’08, but Te’o picked the Irish thanks in large part to Charlie Weis and Brian Polian.

Initial Impressions – Notre Dame 23, Pitt 17
Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead for the second week in a row, but this time the Irish needed a late defensive stand to hold on for a 23-17 win over Pitt. Here are this week’s initial impressions. Offense Dayne Crist is still a work in progress. He’s showing signs of really picking [...]

Notre Dame suffered a tough loss Saturday at the hands of Stanford. The Irish were dominated on both lines of scrimmage and struggled to sustain much offense throughout the game. Here are some initial thoughts on today’s game. Offense The offensive line had its roughest day of the season. Stanford generated a pass rush all [...]

(Not So) Initial Impressions – Michigan 28, Notre Dame 24
This week’s initial impressions is coming a little late. The UHND crew was in South Bend this weekend for the game and a lack of internet and some travel snafus have delayed my normal posting. Initial Impressions – Notre Dame 23, Purdue 12
The Brian Kelly Era started off on the right foot with an 11 point victory over instate rival Purdue Saturday afternoon. Many positives can be taken away from the 2010 season opener, but it was also very evident that the Irish have a lot to work on this weekend. We’ll start on the defensive side [...]

The Indispensables – 2010 Edition
This week’s Irish Blog Gathering got me thinking about who would be the toughest players on the Irish roster to replace if they were to go down to an injury. Figuring out who is the hardest to replace isn’t just a matter of listing the best players on the roster though – you have to [...]

Manti and Who In the Middle?
With Brian Smith moving back to outside linebacker and Manti Te’o taking over as one of the inside linebackers in Bob Diaco’s 3-4 defense, an opening exists at one of the inside backer spots that will be one of the more interesting position battles of the spring. While Brian Kelly mentioned on Friday that Manti [...]

Initial Impression – Notre Dame at Stanford
It’s tough to really get into the X’s and O’s of Saturday’s season finale, but here are some thoughts about an actual football game instead of another post speculating about who might be coaching next season. As much as I agree with the decision to let Stanford score in the final minute – Stanford could [...]

Lessons Learned – Notre Dame at Purdue
This week’s Lessons Learned column comes a bit late, but here are my final thoughts on Notre Dame’s win over Purdue. Clausen has a ton of heart.
