Tommy Rees enrolled early at Notre Dame in January 2010 and used his head start to win the backup QB position in the fall. When Dayne Crist injured his knee against Tulsa, Rees stepped in and guided the Irish to 4 straights wins to end the season including wins over USA and Miami.
