Watch: Dexter Williams’s Tecmo Bowlesque TD Run

Brian Kelly singled out Dexter Williams as the only Notre Dame player to play with fire and passion last week.  This week Williams played a much larger role in the Irish offense than he had previously and he responded with a highlight reel worthy 59 yard touchdown run in the second half.

Williams looked contained after he ran right but reversed his field and ran through the Syracuse defense and raced to the end-zone.  On the game Williams totaled 8 carries for 80 yards and scored for the second week in a row and third time overall this season in just 21 carries.

Senior running back Tarean Folston saw his carries bottom out with none with Williams seeing an increased work load.

Williams had a bit of a scary moment in the fourth quarter when he got twisted around while getting tackled by two defenders.  He immediately grabbed his knee and it did not look good.  Williams walked off the field on his own power, however, and later returned to the game.

  1. PJ,

Agree. I didn’t know he had that top end speed. He clearly has a burst but it looks like if he breaks free he is gone and won’t be caught.

Has anyone else thought that Josh Adams looks really slow this year? He doesn’t seem to be hitting holes as hard and on those stretch plays he isn’t ever making corners and is getting tackled almost every time in one on one situations. I noticed he is wearing a knee brace this year. I wonder if he isn’t 100% healthy or something because he doesn’t look like the same kid we saw last year, that’s for sure.

  2. Dexter Williams surprised me with his speed on this run. It would be interesting to see him in the pass game.

  3. Just think what will happen when We get a shutdown defense! Whats this another team called the Wolfpack next up .
