Relive Notre Dame’s Last Bowl Win Over LSU

It’s officially game week!  Get ready for Notre Dame’s upcoming Citrus Bowl showdown with LSU by watching some highlights of Notre Dame’s last win over LSU in a bowl just three years ago.

It wasn’t that long ago that a Notre Dame team that suffered through a November collapse limped into the 2014 Music City Bowl to take on a LSU team that few gave it a chance to beat.  The Irish, in one of Brian Kelly’s best coaching jobs at Notre Dame, utilized a dual quarterback system featuring Malik Zaire’s legs and Everett Golson’s arm to take down the Tigers thanks to a last second Kyle Brindza field goal.  And Les Miles’s inexplicable decision to leave Leonard Fournette on the sidelines for much of the second half.

Much like this year with Notre Dame limping into the bowl game, many thought that LSU would roll over the Irish.  Notre Dame was in the thick of the College Football Playoff race at the start of November only to suffer four straight defeats to end the season – at Arizona State, vs. Northwestern, vs. Louisville, and at USC.

Notre Dame’s November collapse this year wasn’t quite as dramatic but after a blowout loss to Miami and a rough loss to Stanford in a game in which they led in the 4th quarter; not much is expected of the Irish by most pundits next week.

We’ll have more on this game over the next several days, but for now, enjoy the highlights of the 2014 Music City Bowl.

Keep in mind, the Irish are 1-0 vs. Orgeron when He took over the reins at Troy. Let’s make it 2-0.
