Notre Dame Highlights: Irish Blowout #12 Syracuse 36-3

Notre Dame hit the road for a “home” game on Saturday against the 12th ranked Orange from Syracuse and emerged with their 11th victory of the season in a 36-3 blowout.  Notre Dame’s defense smothered the high flying Syracuse offense from the opening whistle harassing the Orange into turnovers all day.  Star Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey left the game in the first half with a back injury and didn’t return.  Without Dungey the Syracuse offense that was already struggling essentially had no chance.

Offensively, the Irish actually struggled finishing off drives throughout the day or the final score would have been even more lopsided.  Ian Book was back in action after missing last weekend’s Florida State blowout.  He finished 23 of 38 for 292 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.  Dexter Williams found the endzone twice (one on the ground and another in the air), Jafar Armstrong returned to the endzone for the first time since Navy, and Chase Claypool added the other Irish touchdown.

Much more to come on this one.  For now enjoy the highlights of another Notre Dame blowout win.

  1. Thanks for the highlight reel.
Five more sacks featured could have also been included along with the numerous QB hurries.
I’m so tired of hearing about Ds from Georgia, LSU, Bama, Michigan & Clemson. Today, ND reminded the anal-ists that ND belongs with a discussion re: elite Ds. With the development of NDs safeties and the addition of Gilman, NDs D’ under Clark Lea has established themselves as a dominant D’

  2. Alohi Gilman is an absolute star of this defense. That second interception is right up there when he caused that fumble when Vanderbilt was going in against Notre Dame earlier this season.
