Notre Dame Visit Back on Tap for Aaron Lynch

All was pretty quiet on the Aaron Lynch front on Sunday, but Blue and Gold Illustrated reported late Sunday night that Lynch’s weekend visit to Notre Dame is back on.

Late Saturday night, Lynch officially decommitted from Florida State, but at that point it was still unclear when or if he would visit Notre Dame – the only other school being mentioned by the talented defensive end at the moment.  For now, at least, it looks like Lynch will visit this weekend and it appears as though Notre Dame is in good shape here.

This has been a wild story this weekend and as I said last night, we shouldn’t really be surprised by any other developments as this unfolds.

With a weekend visit, Lynch would still be able to enroll early with Notre Dame starting classes next Monday.  Florida State starts classes this Tuesday which would make enrolling early in Tallahassee very difficult.

If Tony Alford and Brian Kelly are able to pull this off, it would be a major coup for Notre Dame.  Teaming Lynch with Stephon Tuitt would give Notre Dame a pair of defensive ends in the same class the likes of which Notre Dame hasn’t seen in a long time.

If this weekend has taught us anything about Lynch’s recruitment, however, nothing is official until he enrolls at whichever school he decides on.

Ishaq Williams Still Undecided

In other recruiting news, Ishaq Williams is still deciding between Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Penn State.  Like Lynch, Williams plans on enrolling early wherever he goes.  This is significant here since Penn State starters it’s spring semester on Monday.  Williams had originally planned on announcing his college decision during the Army All American Bowl but wasn’t ready and decided to wait.  If Williams does want to enroll early, he’ll need to decide this week.

Just to clear up some confusion based on some comments to early posts, Williams will play outside linebacker for the Irish if he decides on Notre Dame.  The Brooklyn native played defensive end in the All American Bowl, but projects as outside linebacker in Notre Dame’s defense.

Scarlett Set to Announce His Decision

Brennan Scarlett will be deciding this week as well.  Scarlett, a defensive end, is down to Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Cal. He’ll announce which of those finalists he will be attending on Thursday.

  1. FSU started classes last Tuesday BTW.

I think Lynch is a great talent, but seems to be all about the “I” and not the “team”. I wonder if Ishaq is waiting to see what Lynch does. Any word on the RB Savon Huggins?

  2. Wouldn’t be to sure. He is also looking at Miami and Florida now, not looking at FSU anymore ? Something isn’t right here.

  3. Either this Lynch guy is Irish or he’s one of the few Floridians that likes to visit N.Indiana in January on a whim.
