Zeke Motta Visiting This Weekend

Notre Dame will be hosting safety/linebacker prospect Zeke Motta this weekend when Stanford comes to town accroding to Irish Eyes.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Motta will travel to South Bend on Friday, ready to take in all of Notre Dame’s weekend football festivities. His father Bill, who happens to be Motta’s defensive coordinator at Vero Beach High and a former Auburn linebacker, will also be making the trip. The two saw the Irish campus together for the first time this summer at a camp where Motta earned his scholarship offer to Notre Dame, and his father worked as a counselor.

“Probably just seeing how the college atmosphere is there, and how I fit in with the players,” Motta said of what he’s going to be looking for on this visit. “And when I was there over the summer, they were out of school so there wasn’t a lot of college life going on. I want to see how that is, and see some of the tradition that everyone thinks so highly of. I’d say also see the game you know.”

Motta is a very interesting prospect.  If he were to play college football today he would likely be a safety, but by the time he gets to college he could easily grow into a linebacker.  The SBT described Motta as a Harrison Smith type linebacker/safety, but I think that he will grow into more a clear cut linebacker as opposed to a hybrid like Smith.

Uncommitted prospect Zeke Motta is expected to join them. The 6-2, 207-pounder from Vero Beach, Fla., is a Harrison Smith-type safety/linebacker hybrid. He has previously visited Boston College and Auburn and is also considering Stanford, UCLA, Clemson and Florida.
