Quenton Nelson

Freshman Season (2014) – As a true freshman in 2014, Quenton Nelson did not see any game action preserving a year of eligibility as he prepares for a potential starting role in 2015.  Nelson is considered to be the front runner for a starting position at guard as a sophomore heading into Spring Football.  The transfer of Matt Hegarty after the coaches asked him to switch positions only fueled speculation that Nelson was headed for a starting role next season.

Recruiting – Quenton Nelson was one of the first commitments for Notre Dame’s class of 2014 and ended up being the headliner on the offensive side of the ball for the Irish as the only 5-star recruit (Rivlas).  Nelson was one of the biggest characters of the class of 2014 and that personality came shining through on Signing Day in the introductory video Notre Dame produced of him.

Ranking Notre Dame’s ’15 Offensive Starters: Pre-Spring Practice Edition

To have 11 players we had to take a flyer at quarterback.  Wiser men would wait and see, but occasionally, the job description of a fool is to rush in.  Despite what is offered below, Everett Golson is evocative of what Churchill said about Russia (“A riddle wrapped inside a mystery shrouded in an enigma.”) […]
