Notre Dame finally got back in the win column on Saturday with a 50-33 win over Syracuse at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Notre Dame came in reeling following back to back losses and the dismissal of their defensive coordinator but the Irish steadied the ship – at least for a week – with an offensive explosion and some steady improvement on defense.

Notre Dame was led by Deshone Kizer’s career high 471 yards and five touchdowns of 50 yards or more. Greg Hudson made his debut as the interim defensive coordinator for the Irish and while the defense was shaky early, they came out strong on the second half and limited the Orange to just six points over the final 30 minutes.
Notre Dame didn’t fix all of its problems this week – they had entirely too many to fix them all in a week – but the Irish got a win they can build on.
Plenty more to follow.
