Stay Classy, Trojan Fans

Pat Forde called USC fans the nastiest in the country on Tuesday in his weekly “Forde Yard Dash”.  Here’s what Forde had to say about USC’s fans.

Nastiest Fans — USC’s, last Saturday for the Notre Dame game. There were churlish drivers by the dozens en route to the stadium. There was the surly elevator operator who tried to tell a woman (Irish fan) escorting her son in a wheelchair that she had to leave her two young daughters behind to wait for the next elevator. And there were the fans spewing penitentiary-worthy profanity at the Notre Dame players and coaches as they exited the field. That “SC” stands for Stay Classy, Trojans fans.

I rarely agree with Forde, but I figured I’d pass this bit of info along after reading it Tuesday night.

Is anyone shocked by Forde’s description though? In their defense, most of the people in that stadium didn’t realize Southern Cal had a football team until Pete Carroll arrived so they have a lot of pent up energy.   I wonder how many of the “fans” Forde described knows that the Irish went 13 straight games without losing to USC between 1983-1995.

Oh how I miss the days of Notre Dame fans taking up almost half of the Coliseum.

You stay class Trojan fans.

  1. Wow, I’m neither a USC nor ND fan, but having randomly Google-stumbled onto this page, I must say that ND fans come off looking real bad. And C-dog is clearly a racist retard. You should look at your own failings first guy.

  2. C-bitch dog. What do you care what my name is, all you need to know, is by how many POINT’S your WEAK @SS SORRY EXCUSE for FOOOTBALL TEAM is going too LOSE by. My guess will be by ALLOT.Oh by the way you can stick your N.D history up your @SS because nobody CARES. Maybe next year your FAT @SS coach can schedule F.E.M.A , RED CROSS and the Sister’r of mercy convent to pick up a few more wins to save his job. L.O.L

  3. Ahhh yes, we “profane” SC fans….Yes thank you for coming out to LA last week ND, hopefully your regular butt kicking cleaned out some of your cobwebs….Nope haven’t forgotten about the 13 straight….which is why we’re loving this….I say we go for, ummm, 55 pts ( an SC point total which I’m sure all “real” ND fans can remember)on 10/17/09…the clock is ticking. Have a nice winter.

  4. jaldana,
You comments show you know nothing about Notre Dame, South Bend. I would advise you to actually have some facts or first hand knowledge when you state such sweeping opinions as the ones you have about Notre Dame or South Bend.
Do you have any idea how athletics relate to university life anywhere? Have you been to college or even graduated from high school? Please don’t tell me you are a drop out because then you really have no standing or credibility here.
Seriously, the USC blog sites would welcome you, but this website expects higher intelligence. By the way is jaldana your real name? It sounds like one of those goofy made up names like Keyshawn, or Plaxico, again a sign of a failed culture. Hopefully that’s not your world. Otherwise if there is still time in your life, think about becoming an achiever. Think how the folks who are associated with or are fans of Notre Dame think.

  5. That is exactly my point that college football, is just a form of entertainment and should only be a small part of who you are. I never been to South Bend but i am getting that there’s not much to do during football season. Can you tell me what the suicide rate in that part’s of the WOOD’S. By the way i don’t live in watt’s or ever been there before.

  6. Go to youtube, look up Kirk Gibson’s home run in the World Series. The one where he is limping. As he is running to second base you can see brake lights leaving Dodger Stadium. That’s all you need to know about Los Angeles area “fans”.

  7. jaldana,
You do not understand Notre Dame. Football is not God. God is God and at Notre Dame we say “God, Country, Notre Dame.” We do not say Notre Dame football. Football is only an extension of the Unversity’s commitment to excellence. Go look at the Notre Dame website and look at the other aspects of the University. Come visit and see what else goes on there, such as the good works of the Center for Social Concerns, or the Hesburgh Center for Peace Studies. You might be overwhelmed by the spirtual character of the people on campus. It’s a far cry from Watts of the hedonistic atmosphere in LA.

  8. I understand that football at N.D is GOD but people please it’s only a game win or lose the sun will come out tomorrow. On the comment’s made by Lendale White which i did not see or notice during the game ,I was probably on a bathroom run, but even if it is true no one fan or former player’s represent’s USC. I don’t agree with WHITE statement or at least not stupid enough to say it on t.v

  9. All I am pissed about is the Lendale White comments on the sidelines of the game. Then he went on the radio today and called out Jones-Drew alma mater saying “if he is listening, his team sucks!” Class act right there. It’s one thing to talk trash but it looks like they only know how to teach ballroom dancing!

So, let me finish in the style of Lendale White, USC SUCKS!

  10. Well, I’ve been reading the comments from USC fans on Blue Gray Sky’s blog and for the most part they have been very classy. They criticize our current team’s performance and Weis, not Notre Dame in general and they hope that ND will get better so that the rivalry will get better. What’s wrong with that? Honestly, some of them have said much nicer things about ND than some ND fans have said about SC. What’s worse: SC fans making “fat man” jokes, or ND fans calling Carroll “poodle”?

Honestly, there are bad fans at every school, including ND. I think most of ND’s fans are very classy people, and represent the school well. Are we better than other fans though, well, that might be a bit presumptuous. I’m sure that most USC fans are good people too, but they aren’t the vocal ones that you remember (just like the SC fan above who posted on ND fans remembers the profane ones, not the quiet ones). It’s just a shame that you tend to remember the bad over the good.

I went to BC for a game in 2003, and most people weren’t very nice, but a few were. Just don’t judge a whole team’s fanbase by a few jerks. I am as guilty of this as anyone, I will admit.

Can’t we have a rivalry without the need to profane and denigrate our rivals?

  11. Karma’s a B%#*@. USC’s rogue football program will eventually get what’s coming to them, and it won’t be pretty. USC will be this generation’s SMU.

  12. The spirit of the region from San Francisco and continuing south to the border is a vexing one at best. At worst,
it is lacking in empathy and
truly large amounts of indifference. I know–I have lived and worked there.
As for USC fans, I have not seen this until lately.
The rivalry is SUPPOSED to be intense. Notre Dame’s playing has not been–that is for sure.
As for USC-I TRULY and SINCERELY wonder about the life skills these young men are receiving from the football dynasty they currently are. All things go in cycles. Carroll and recruiting and his whining towards the end of the 34-31
“triumph” makes me question a lot.
Poetic justice will demonstrate itself when an SC player years from now will apply for a loan -only to see the Fighting Irish Mascot on the other side of the desk and another successful Notre Dame Graduate doing what they do best–working and succeeding and contributing to the good of the community!

  13. Frank,

You’re not throwing snowballs in Rock’s…..whoops, I mean you’re not throwing rocks in a glass house are you.

Read the comments before sounding off like an idiot. Noone said “ND sucks” is a curse. I have no problem with fans cursing at games. All I was getting across was ND fans should stop with the “F Michigan” motto/saying and go with “FUSC” as a new one! And my reason for that is USC has no class/respect for anything or anyone due to their great coach using them for the athletes they are and not molding them into anything resembling a man that can survive without football. I try not to wish harm on people, but I can’t wait until Lendale White gets hurt bad, gets busted for drugs/guns, or follows in the footsteps of a former USC great and kills two people.

  15. So “ND sucks” is a curse? But “fusc” is not? Last time I was at ND stadium I heard just as much cursing as any other place, except the cursing was from the older fans.

  16. Since, “Hooked on Phonics” is the benchmark for USC football players. I’m not optimistic the rest of that USC stadium crowd will be able to rediscover their home address in less than three days, once somebody informs them the game is over.

  17. My uncle’s seats at ND stadium used to be near the opposing team’s band. He’s told me several times how USC’s band chanted anti-Catholic slurs. After the Stanford band incident and ban, I guess another California educational institution wants to destroy the religious, spiritual and moral foundation that built this country. Well with a proximity to Watts, USC is going to be one of the first areas to go down when it all hits the fan.

Jaldana, will your education allow you to be employed by a US or foreign firm? By one of your last posts, I don’t think so. Fight on! or should we say, “Go O.J. Go!, the cops are coming!”

  18. How come noone is commenting on Lendale White’s comments(Notre Dame Sucks!) on the sideline about Notre Dame? Considering his recent comments about not getting the ball enough. Shows the class Pete Caroll instills in these guys. Considering the state of the NFL(suspensions, altercations, shooting themselves, etc.) it is no wonder USC is considered a “NFL factory”. No longer should it be “F Michigan” but instead “FUSC!”

  19. Hi kyle. It’s funny but we in so-cal we don’t really hate N.D we would hope that the GOLDEN DOMER’S would be more competitive to help us in the BCS rank’s. Looking forward for a better game next year.
