#8 Notre Dame Upset by Pitt

In a back-and-forth affair, #8 Notre Dame took its first road loss of the season, losing to Pittsburgh 76-72. The Panthers had four of their five starters in double figures, led by Jamel Artis who scored 20 points as Pitt improves to 4-5 in ACC play. Notre Dame’s Demetrius Jackson led the Irish with 15 points in the losing effort.

  1. This win was a bit of a let down. ND has been playing with fire the last few games and they did get burned this time.

    I just hope this isn’t a harbinger of things to come. I know I should stay positive, but with ND, it’s easy to be a doubter. They’ve had good teams other years and had nothing to show for it come tournament time.

    This team needs to pick itself back up and get ready for BC now. A tournament bid is all but guaranteed if they keep it up.

    The only bummer is they had an outside shot at an #1 bid if they won out but that’s not going to happen now. The best they could cope for is a #2 slot in a bracket.

  2. A bit of a bummer but not surprised. Bret seemed surprised at the previous 2 wins including the upset of Duke. I wonder why he doesn’t expect his team to win these games. A coach shouldn’t shoot for better than average and be surprised when his team is great. This is a potentially great team.
