Recapping Notre Dame’s New Assistant Coaches

Chris Ash — Defensive Coordinator
A veteran coach with head-coaching and NFL experience, Ash spent 2024 scouting for the Jaguars after coaching the Raiders’ defensive backs. His resume includes coordinator stops at Wisconsin, Arkansas, and Ohio State, along with the Rutgers head coaching job. He takes over a defense that led the nation in takeaways in 2024.

Ja’Juan Seider — Associate Head Coach / Running Backs
One of college football’s most respected running back developers and recruiters, Seider comes from Penn State where he was associate head coach, co-offensive coordinator, and running backs coach. He inherits a room that was a strength last season and adds another high-end recruiting presence to the offensive staff.

Coaches Out (since 2024)

  • Al Golden — departed to become defensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals (January 2025).
  • Deland McCullough — left to coach running backs for the Las Vegas Raiders (January 2025).
