Notre Dame did not leave much doubt in this one. Boubacar Traore got to the Stanford quarterback from behind on the opening series to force a turnover, and the Irish scored on the ground and through the air from there. CJ Carr picked up a key first down with his legs, then hit Jaden Greathouse on the sideline: “Caught. Touchdown. Greathouse.” A 97-yard touchdown run followed, with the broadcast crediting the “dominance of this Notre Dame offensive line. Come off the ball, creating creases.”

Traore was not finished. He dropped into coverage on a Stanford rollout and picked off the pass, prompting the call that he had “already made an impact and still rolling” before the booth added, “Play linebacker in the National Football League.” A 33-yard field goal came next: “And he pumps that right through to make it 23 nothing.”

  • Carr found Aneyas Williams down the sideline, with a brief question about whether Williams was pushed out: “They’re calling a touchdown.”
  • Carr’s fake held Stanford’s five-man pressure long enough for him to find Elijah Burress for a score.
  • Javian Osborne got in on it late: “I think they’re trying to get Osborne a touchdown. They just got it, too.”
  • Mark Zackery IV added Notre Dame’s second interception, and Jordan Faison’s return set up the Irish inside the Stanford 40. One drive featured 14 rushes, “the most in a single drive in 23 years.”
