After a few week hiatus, the UHND Opponent Poll returns this week.
2008 UHND Opponent Poll – Week 10 |

Opponent | Last Game | Next | Comments
1. | # 6 Southern Cal Trojans (8-1) |
W, 17-3 – #21 Cal | @ Stanford (11/15) | Frank : USC keeps trucking along and could find itself in the title game with a little bit of help. My only hope is that USC doesn’t make its national title game resume with a blowout of us as they did in the past.
2. | #15 Michigan State Spartans (9-2) |
W, 21-7 – Purdue | @ #8 Penn State (11/22) | Frank: After slipping up against Ohio State, Michigan State is looking very strong once again and with two weeks to prepare for a Penn State teamw hich just lost to Iowa, the Spartans have a chance to finish the regular season 10-2 and go to the Rose Bowl.
3. | # 16 North Carolina Tar Heels (5-2) |
W, 28-7 – #20 Georgia Tech | @ Maryland (11/15) | Frank: UNC is looking very strong as the season has progressed. UNC made short work of Georgia Tech and has a great chance to win the ACC this season.
4. | #21 Pittsburgh Panthers (7-2) |
W, 41-7 – Louisville | @ #22 Cincinnati (11/22) | Frank: I still can’t believe we lost to this team, but it looks like Pitt could win the Big East and head to a BCS Bowl this year. Louisville is a pretty bad football team so don’t let the score fool you, Pitt still isn’t that strong.
5. | Boston College Eagles (6-3) |
W, 17-0 – Notre Dame | @ #19 Florida State (11/15) | Frank: Words can’t describe how much I hate losing to Boston College – especially such a weak Boston College team. BC was down right awful on offense and the only reason they had a chance in this game was because of Notre Dame’s five turnovers.
6. | Stanford Cardinal(5-5) | L, 28-35 – Oregon | vs. #6 USC (11/15) | Frank: Stanford is about what I thought they’d be – a pretty average football team. They shocked the world and upset USC last year – don’t expect it to happen again.
7. | Navy Midshipmen (6-3) |
W, 33-27 (OT) – Temple | vs. Notre Dame (11/15) | Frank: Navy needed overtime to beat Temple. Read that again and try not to be depressed that we are only a 3.5 point favorite over the Mids this weekend.
8. | Purdue Boilermakers (3-7) |
L, 7-21 – #18 Michigan State | @ Iowa (11/15) | Frank: Something tells me this isn’t what Joe Tiller had in mind when he made this his last season.
9. | Michigan Wolverines(3-7) |
W, 29-6 – Minnesota | vs. Northwestern (11/15) | Frank: Michigan looked competent in beating Minnesota for the first time this season. With Northwestern and Ohio State left on their schedule though, a three win season is looking very possible.
10. | Syracuse Orangemen (2-7) |
L, 17-35 – Rutgers | vs. UConn (11/15) | Frank: Syracuse got a win over Louisville since the last poll, but they are still a pretty bad football team. There shouldn’t be any reason we can’t beat this team by at least two touchdowns next weekend. Keyword – shouldn’t.
11. | San Diego State Aztecs (1-9) |
L, 12-41 – BYU | vs. #7 Utah (11/15) | Frank: After Saturday, I’m starting to see how we only beat this team by 7 points.
12. | Washington Huskies (0-9) |
L, 19-39 – Arizona State | vs. UCLA (11/15) | Frank: Will Ty ride off into the sunset this year with at least one win? A contest with Washington State next weekend seems like the only chance for that. |
