The Details Behind Notre Dame’s 2026 Shamrock Series Uniform
Notre Dame doesn’t do Shamrock Series uniforms halfway, and the 2026 set built for Lambeau Field is one of the most historically-influenced the program has ever put out. Under Armour and Notre Dame revealed this year’s jerseys on Wednesday morning, exactly 60 days out from the September 6 opener against Wisconsin, and almost every element on it carries a specific meaning tied to the stadium, the Green Bay Packers, or Notre Dame’s own history. The program’s tagline for the drop said it plainly: “Two legacies. One field. Woven from the same cloth.”
The idea: two programs, one bloodline
The concept isn’t just “Notre Dame goes to an NFL stadium.” It’s built on the genuine, century-old link between the Irish and the Packers. Lambeau Field is named for Curly Lambeau, who played at Notre Dame before going home to Green Bay and founding the franchise in 1919. The Packers’ original blue-and-gold color scheme traces straight back to those Notre Dame roots, a detail Freeman nodded to directly when he referenced the “Acme Packers blue and gold” in the reveal video.
From there the shared history runs deep. Paul Hornung, the “Golden Boy,” won a Heisman in South Bend and championships in Green Bay. The old Notre Dame box formation helped shape the way the early Packers played. Notre Dame is leaning on all of it, and the uniform is where that history shows up.
Two shades of navy
Rather than a single flat color, the jersey uses two tones of navy: what Notre Dame is calling Uniform Navy and Washed Navy. It’s a subtle contrast meant to give the set depth and a slightly worn, throwback feel that fits the Lambeau setting rather than a bright modern alternate.
Gold everywhere
The gold on this uniform isn’t flat print. Notre Dame is describing the accents as dimensional, from the helmet down through the striping. The helmet is gold, as always, but the gold carries through the whole look far more aggressively than a standard home set.
The numbers are the headline
The gold jersey numbers are the piece drawing the most attention, and they’re a direct tribute. Notre Dame says the number font is inspired by Paul Hornung and the Green Bay Packers, tying the Golden Boy’s two chapters together on the front and back of the jersey. It’s the clearest single link between the Irish and the venue they’re playing in.
If those numbers are the part of this uniform that got you, the good news is you can put them on. Under Armour has the 2026 Shamrock Series replica jersey live at Fanatics for $129.99, carrying the same navy base and gold Hornung-inspired numbering the Irish will wear at Lambeau on September 6. Shamrock Series jerseys are a one-year run by design, and this one is tied to a game Notre Dame has never played before, so it isn’t the kind of thing that gets reissued down the road. Sizes on the last few Shamrock drops thinned out well before kickoff.

11 shamrocks for 11 titles
Look for 11 gold shamrocks worked into the uniform. Each one represents one of Notre Dame’s 11 consensus national championships. It’s the kind of detail that rewards a close look and gives the set meaning beyond the Green Bay theme, planting the program’s own history right on the fabric.
The nameplate, the striping, and the patches
A special-edition gold nameplate sits above the numbers, and there’s classic shoulder striping running the length of the sleeve. Two patches round it out: a commemorative American flag patch and a Credit Union 1 patch marking the game’s presenting sponsor. Notre Dame even finished the look with custom cleats built for the occasion.
How it plays
Reaction was split at the reveal, which is standard for any Shamrock Series drop, and a few fans noted the set echoes the 2024 Yankee Stadium uniforms worn against Army. But dropping this in the dead quiet of the July calendar was a smart move by the program, and the Hornung-inspired numbers plus the 11 shamrocks give it more substance than a simple color swap.
The Irish break these out for the first time on September 6 under the lights at Lambeau, serving as the home team against Wisconsin to open the season. For a program with Playoff expectations, a primetime NBC window at Lambeau is the kind of stage the Shamrock Series was built for. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
