ESPN: Notre Dame Calls Wednesday Press Conference
ESPN just reported at the end of the 1AM Sports Center that Notre Dame has called a press conference on Wednesday regarding the Charlie Weis situation. Linda Cohn made the announcement right as the 1AM version of Sports Center was signing off and no other comment other than Notre Dame called a press conference.
This would seem to the Irish Eyes and WNDU report that an official announcement from Notre Dame stating that Weis would be back coming within 24 hours credence.
Hopefully whatever is said at the press conference gives us a definitve answer on the subject and doesn’t leave anything to interpretation.
I’ll post more when it’s available.
UPDATE: I just caught the Sports Center replay and they are citing the South Bend Tribune as the source for the Wednesday presser. Looks like Eric Hansen has a report about the press conference.
Charlie Weis’ week in coaching no-man’s land will end suddenly and awkwardly Wednesday, when the University of Notre Dame holds a press conference to announce that the embattled fourth-year Irish head football coach will return for the 2009 season.
No time was given in Hansen’s report so we’ll post any updates when they are available.

There won’t be. Last night’s Sports Center definitely reported there would be. I stayed up til 3:00 to rewatch Sports Center to make sure I didn’t hear what Linda Cohn said incorrectly.
Sportscenter this morning reported that there will be no press conference as Weis and Swarbrick are both out of town.
