Notre Dame’s Green Jerseys for Florida State Game Are Pure FIRE

Notre Dame teased/announced last night that they would be wearing green jerseys for Senior Day, but the only images we had of green jerseys were the ones being sold on Fanatics.  On Friday Notre Dame cleared some things up and showed the jerseys that the Irish will wear tomorrow to honors the seniors and they look absolutely fantastic.

Here are all of the views Notre Dame shared via Twitter today.

The green Notre Dame is using is very similar to the “Green Monster” uniform the Irish wore in 2015 for the game in Fenway versus Boston College.  The difference with these is the Irish will be wearing their traditional gold pants and the traditional helmets.  It is going to be fun to see the whole uniform together because the jerseys themselves look fantastic.

It is going to be very hard for people to complain about these.  I know some still will because they’d still also rather see Notre Dame use a fullback and play in leather helmets.  The green really pops though and should make for a nice send off.  If there were one concern I had it would be on the green jerseys on a green playing surface at night, but I am sure that is not going to be a big problem.

The seniors apparently really wanted to wear these for their final home game and given this senior class is very much responsible for the Irish rebound from 4-8 in 2016 to 19-3 over the last 22 games, I’d say they earned the opportunity to end their careers at home how they see fit.  Notre Dame did the same in 2006 for that senior class that suffered through terrible seasons in 2003 and 2004 before going on a similar run their final two years.

Should the Irish win tomorrow, this senior class will have won 10 games in three of their last four seasons at Notre Dame.  That’s not too bad considering there were just two 10 win seasons during the Davie, Willingham, and Weis regimes combined.

As long as Notre Dame doesn’t fumble more than normal like they did in the green jerseys they wore in 2002 for the Boston College game, these look like they will be a big hit.

I said a few weeks back that I thought if Notredame made the playoffs we would see Winbush play a role in the offense. The 3 teams Notredame may have to play Clemson Alabama or Michigan all have really good defenses especially great dlines.Winbushes legs could be a weapon against those teams. So it may be a blessing in disguise that he gets back out there playing again.

Ever since that Boston College game where we fumbled like 8 times, and please keep in mind that I was a younger kid then, I always thought that wearing green jerseys must be a lot more slippery than our blue jerseys and never wanted Notre Dame to wear green jerseys ever again haha. That was a heartbreaking loss after going like 8-0 or something and I remember being devastated.

Ha-ha. Yeah some ND fans are slow to accept change (it’s always been amusing because if they think for one minute that Rockne wouldn’t have made some of the same changes if he thought it would give the Irish an edge they’re smoking something).

I love the traditional aspect to ND football. No names on the uniforms, slashes still in the endzone, that sort of thing. Traditions-retro, that can be very much a plus if done the right way. But I have no problem with special event sort of things, like wearing different uniforms for games like this.
