Notre Dame Beats North Carolina in Chapel Hill

The Notre Dame men’s basketball team equaled it’s win total from the 2013-14 season on Monday night with a road victory over the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  The 13th ranked Fighting Irish edged the #18 Tar Heels 71-70 after what looked like it could be an easy victory turned into a nail-bitter.

The win was Notre Dame’s first ever at Chapel Hill and was accomplished despite an off night from star Jerian Grant and a being outrebounded 43-26 by the Tar Heels.  Notre Dame is now 15-1 on the season and 3-0 in ACC play setting up another huge showdown this weekend against the 3rd ranked Cavaliers of Virginia.

  1. Great win for the Irish. You can see, though, how not having a long bench can affect the Irish when facing a good team. NC has a large bench to pull from so they were starting to wear down ND. Another minute or two and the result may have been different.

    Earlier in the game, the Irish were leading relatively comfortably.
