- No changes on either offense or special teams for week 2. Deshone Kizer and Malik Zaire are still listed as co-starters as are Josh Adams and Tarean Folston at running back.
- UPDATE: Deshone Kizer has been named the starting quarterback for the Nevada game
- UPDATE: Torii Hunter has been ruled out for this weekend’s game.
- Torii Hunter is still listed as “X” WR but his status is still up in the air as he goes through the concussion protocol this week.
- Big change comes at Free Safety with Devin Studstill listed as the #1 and fellow freshman Jalen Elliot listed as the #2. Last week Studstill backed up Avery Sebastian who has moved back to his #2 SS position.
- Drue Tranquill was benched against Texas but will get the start again this week at SS. Elliot replaced Tranquill in the second half against the Longhorns but now moves over to FS to back up Studstill. While Kelly and his defensive staff obviously weren’t pleased with Tranquill’s performance in the first half, it appears the staff is going to try and avoid starting two freshmen on the back end of the defense at least for now.
- Of note (possibly) Daniel Cage was listed before Jarron Jones last week even though they were listed as co-starters. That order was reversed this week.

That was the ACC refs why should the big 12 refs say anything if there wasn’t a flag!
Ah, I see what you did there Gregory.
Should we save a prayer if they come undone?
Love your predictions, keep them coming.
expect to see Malik plenty of snaps after we are ahead45-0. We’re hungrier than the wolf for a BIG WIN!
Why isn’t Tevon Coney starting? I believe this will give us another talented and athletic LB on the field with Nyles. I believe he will be an upgrade over Greer. I don’t understand why BK does not play his most talented players.
I don’t care what the big 12 says that was targeting and should have been first and goal
BK says the defense is fine. Nothing to see here, folks. Nothing to see here. Just “relax.”
So Drew T (Jr) struggles and is pulled from the TX game and replaced by true frosh and is now back in the lineup? That’s a joke. Losing game 1 should mean the rapid development of the frosh. Get the reps in vs Nevada. I like my chances better with MSU in 2 weeks with more reps from the frosh. The fact MZ was given that many series in game 1 was a joke. And sine I am now on a rant, firing BVG was priority 1 in last years offseason, not the upcoming one. Whew I feel better already, until we play top 20 caliber teams and open up all my wounds again.
Montgomery Van Gorder is know for his body language.
Not naming Kizer the starting QB just shows the arrogance of Kelly. I’m so done with this guy. And tell me which QB had better body language etc when the other was in the game. Very obvious.
That’s it BK, just throw in the towel
