Notre Dame Football Depth Chart 2026: Week 1 vs. Wisconsin
Notre Dame released its Game 1 depth chart Monday, ahead of Sunday night’s Shamrock Series opener against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field. The offensive line is where most of the movement is.
Will Black takes over at left tackle for his first career start. Anthonie Knapp slides inside to left guard after starting all 27 games of his career at tackle, and Guerby Lambert moves from right guard to right tackle. Ashton Craig is back at center after some speculation he could slide over to guard, but he is listed as the starter over Joe Otting. The lone question on the line, however, is the biggest question the Irish entered training camp with – who starts at right guard? Sullivan Absher and Styles Prescod are listed with the “OR” designation and Freeman said Monday they have not yet decided.
Depth behind them is thin because of injuries – Charles Jagusah, Chris Terek and Matty Augustine are all listed out, which leaves freshmen Charlie Thom and Grayson McKeogh as the tackle backups. Thom is listed at both spots. If push comes to shove though, Knapp could play tackle again and Prescod could play guard or tackle as well.
Elsewhere, CJ Carr’s only listed backups are freshmen Noah Grubbs and Teddy Jarrard. Aneyas Williams heads a backfield with four names behind him and last year’s top backs gone to the NFL. Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is questionable with a left knee injury and is listed alongside Madden Faraimo behind Drayk Bowen at MIKE. Expect to still see Viliamu-Asa A LOT assuming he has no restrictions.
