Notre Dame Trying To Get Back in with Bryce McNeal?
The Pioneer Press had a little blurb about Notre Dame recruiting a couple Minneapolis area prospects this week and it sounds like Notre Dame might be trying to get back in on recruiting Bryace McNeal after the talented wide receiver decommitted from Michigan.
A Notre Dame assistant football coach was in town this week to meet with junior lineman Seantrel Henderson of Cretin-Derham Hall and wide receiver Bryce McNeal of Breck.
McNeal decommitted from Michigan at the beginning of the week – the third big recruit to decommit from Michigan this year along with Kevin Newsome and William Campbell.
McNeal had an early offer from Notre Dame, but the Irish weren’t one of his top schools when he originally committed to Michigan back in May.
Seantrel Henderson meanwhile might be one of the most important recruits in next year’s recruiting class. Henderson will be one of the highest rated offensive tackles in the country next year. Considerng Notre Dame’s problems landing offensive tackles in this class other than Zach Martin, getting a recruit like Henderson will be pivitol next year.
Last year’s recruiting class was as strong as it was because of the work the staff put in with those prospects when they were juniors. Because of last year’s 3-9 record, the staff had to be spend most of its time keeping the early commitments on board and as a result, this year’s class, while very strong, isn’t as strong as last year’s #1 ranked class. Seeing the staff visiting juniors right now is a very good sign.
