Notre Dame Football Recruits React to Shayne Simon Commit

The Notre Dame recruiting class of 2018 is a pretty tight group already.  Led by master recruiter Markese Stepp the current crop of commitments are active on social media to encourage others to join the class.  On Tuesday when Shayne Simon became the 14th commitment for 2018, they didn’t disappoint with their showing of support for the new future classmate.

First off, Simon’s high school teammate at St. Peter’s Prep, Jayson Ademilola.  Ademilola had been tweeting at his teammate to join him and his twin brother for a while now.

Twin brother Justin Ademilola approves too.  Very strong work by the Ademilola twins in getting their teammate to join them in South Bend.

Derrik Allen approves too.  The Derrik Allen/Shayne Simon strong safety/rover combo has the potential to be a very, very dangerous combination for the Notre Dame defense.

Ring leader Markese Stepp welcomed Simon.  Stepp was also growing impatient waiting for the announcement with a tweet before this one asking Simon when he was going to stop making everyone wait.

Notre Dame’s other commitment this week – RB Jahmir Smith – with the strong emoji game.  Smith has only been in Notre Dame class of 2018 for a few days, but he has already been active on social media with the other Irish commitments and targets.

Wide receiver Micah Jones.  Jones was  busy encouraging fellow wide receiver Kevin Austin to join the Irish class as well.  Austin announced today that he will be announcing his commitment on August 11.

Fellow linebacker Ovie Oghoufo has some high aspirations for this defensive class following the addition of Simon. Oghoufo will be playing along side Simon for the next four years.

Ja’Mion Franklin agreed but he wasn’t happy with just one commitment.  The DT is looking for Jack Lamb, Jayson Oweh, and Thomas Booker to join the class.  Franklin is beginning to rival Stepp as Notre Dame’s most active social media recruiter.  Stepp has almost a year long head start on Franklin, but the nose tackle is making up ground in a hurry.

Speaking of Thomas Booker, one of Notre Dame’s top remaining defensive end targets congratulated Simon on his commitment.

Quarterback Phil Jurkovec.

Brandon Wimbush isn’t a recruit anymore, but he did play at St. Peter’s Prep.  Notre Dame’s starting quarterback for 2017 is excited to have another Marauder on board with Notre Dame.
