Notre Dame vs. Michigan State Highlights: CJ Carr, Micah Gilbert Lead Irish Past Spartans 27-10

Notre Dame moved to 3-0 with a 27-10 win over Michigan State at Notre Dame Stadium, and the highlight package built the night around CJ Carr and Micah Gilbert. Carr went deep over the middle to Gilbert on the opening drive, came back to him later for a downfield grab that set up another score.

The scoring came from three different places. Nolan James Jr. found the hole for the first touchdown, Aneyas Williams plunged in for the second, and Carr walked in behind a lead blocker for the third. Spencer Porath handled the rest, splitting the uprights from 25 and again from 35.

• Carr’s best throw of the package came under pressure. He slid off an edge rush, stayed on his feet and found Mylan Graham for a first down.
• Gilbert’s two catches bracketed the night, the first a deep ball over the middle, the second the downfield grab that gave the Irish first-and-goal.
• James did damage beyond the touchdown, breaking free for 15 and later grinding out a 14-yard run to the 30.
• Luke Talich and Adon Shuler each picked off an overthrow, and Boubacar Traore delivered the hit that knocked the ball loose and handed it back to Notre Dame.
• Porath’s field goals from 25 and 35 followed a 36-yarder against Rice a week earlier.
