Spencer Boyd to Notre Dame?

Rivals reported yesterday that Spencer Boyd would be making his announcement on Friday and would be picking between Notre Dame, Michigan, and Georgia.  According to the Cape Coral Daily Breeze though, the decision has been made and Boyd will pick Notre Dame on Friday.

“I talked to Spencer (Tuesday) and he told me he was going to verbally commit to Notre Dame,” Cape High coach Mike Goebbel said. “He thought that was the best place for him. He was excited and his parents are excited about it.”

Boyd would be the 13th verbal commitment in this class and the third in the defensive backfield to go along with cornerback Lo Wood and safety Chris Badger.

In case you missed it, I posted some highlights of Boyd on Wednesday that a definitely worth a look.  The clip shows him playing both offense and defense and really showcasing his versatility and play-making ability.  He’d be a great pickup for the Irish should he ultimately announce for Notre Dame on Friday.

  1. Dan McCarthy became the 17th commit on July 16th 2007, but 13 is still well ahead of the usual pace.

  2. @IrishFan – This is the most I can remember this early since I’ve been working on UHND (1998).

  3. I’m estimating we need 24. 6 more on O, 6 on D. Not that I have post-its tracking what positions we need, and how many we should go for. I would never do something like that.

    no.. wait, I would.

  4. I’m staying tuned in tomarrow. How many are we looking to take in this class because the way its looking we are looking around 25ish.
