After three weeks of impressive performances, Notre Dame got a scare on Saturday afternoon from unranked Pitt. The Irish, more than three touchdown favorites, trailed for most of the game, but scored a go ahead touchdown with around five minutes remaining to stay unbeaten and keep their playoff hopes alive. It was far from pretty. In fact at times it was downright ugly. On a day when four top 10 teams lost and two others nearly got upset though, any win is better than the alternative.
We’ll have plenty more on this one and the aftermath of a near disaster.

I didn’t like the 3 man rush prevent defense on Pitt’s last possession. This simply enables a comeback// We were very
fortunate that Pitt’s O line played so poorly in pass protect that we were able to get to the QB in that series.
If pressure worked the entire game, why back off and give the QB extra time for a comeback?
Very stupid defensive play call, but lucky.
I thought it was correctly done. Why bring pressure when three down linemen can do the job? Pittsburgh gain -20 yards during that possession with Notre Dame only rushing three players. Obviously it worked extremely well.
